Welcome to the Craft of the Miller Network

Are you a miller of interested in safeguarding the craft of the miller? Then you belong to this network! The craft of the miller has existed for thousands of years and mills can be found in every corner of the earth. Fortunately, there are still mills and millers. This network is intended to connect millers and mill organisations and bring them into contact with each other in an international millers network.

With (online) conferences and workshops we want to build a sustainable network and bring parties together to share knowledge, skills and experiences in the field of mills, the safeguarding of the craft of the miller and create worldwide publicity for the craft of millers.

Background

In 2017, the craft of the miller was the Kingdom of the Netherlands’ first inscription on the Representative List of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. However, this craft is not unique to the Netherlands.

That is why we aim to develop an international network of millers and mill societies. Therefore we bring together wind- and watermill parties from all over the world to share knowledge and skills.
